This article is dedicated to issues concerning the history of the text of several literary monuments belonging to the Belozersk manuscript tradition, in particular, the Tale of the Trinity Ust-Shekhonskii Monastery and the Tale of the Church of St. Basil the Great. The paper proposes a hypothesis about the existence of a cycle of stories about the Belozersk shrines, which the author of the article calls the Belozersk Cycle. It includes stories about the Church of St. Basil the Great, the invasion of Batu Khan, Prince Gleb, the foundation of the Trinity Ust-Shekhonskii Monastery and the relocation of the town of Belozersk from its original site to Kargolom. According to the author of the article, this cycle was created in 1620 and practically did not have its own manuscript tradition. Soon, the Tale of the Ust-Shekhonskii Monastery emerged from its composition. In the 18th century, the Story of the relocation of Belozersk and the Extensive Redaction of the Tale of the Church of Basil the Great also emerged from the cycle. The author connects the history of these two tales with the history of stable textual structures into which they were incorporated — cycles and miscellanies of stable composition.

Keywords: cycle, miscellany of stable composition, Belozersk manuscript tradition, Tale of the Trinity Ust-Shekhonskii Monastery, Tale of the Church of Basil the Great, history of the text.
